This project aims to develop a new class of plasma water treatment reactors by combining the effectiveness of atmospheric air plasma with the effective mixing of bubble columns. Non-thermal plasmas have been demonstrated to degrade PFAS at the laboratory scale, but key questions remain on the mechanisms of action and process scaling.

NIER VAM Abatement Safety Project

NIER VAM Abatement Safety Project October 25, 2017 A $27 million five-year research project to determine the critical science and engineering issues underpinning safe operation of Ventilation Air Methane (VAM) capture ducts, part of Large-Scale VAM abatement systems proposed by the Australian coal industry to address fugitive emissions.
Embedded in the Newcastle Institute of Energy and Resources (NIER) research team I harmonised research, commercial and industrial objectives, ensuring successful project delivery for key stakeholders.

NDConvert

NDConvert December 7, 2009 NDConvert was an app for iOS devices I developed with Matthew Kidd in the first years of the iOS App Store. NDConvert was retired in September 2016, its app description is below.
NDConvert focuses on reliability, speed and usability through rigorous cross checking of conversion data and by minimising unnecessary animations present in other unit converters.
The iPhone edition is available on the App Store and features an elegant user interface, quick switch between units from and units to, automatic calculation of conversions, conversion history navigation and large keypad buttons to minimise input error.

KAIE

KAIE August 3, 2020 KAIE (Knowledge Aggregation and Intelligence Engine) is a cloud-based project and asset information management system designed to improve efficiency of operations through better data management.
After consulting with existing and potential customers to develop the inital protoype, I managed a team of high performing engineers to develop and deploy a commercial vaible SaaS product.

Fluxey

Fluxey October 14, 2014 Fluxey is a Software as a Service (SaaS) product I designed, developed and operated with Matthew Kidd to help users create beautiful surveys in minutes.
Built with simplicity in mind our drag-and-drop interface was a delight to use and allowed survey creators naturally flow through the survey creation process thanks to our intuitive design.
Fluxey featured the most powerful features of online surveys including skip logic, A-B testing, and question randomisation.

Neutrium

Neutrium January 1, 2012 Neutrium is a site I co-founded to bridge the gap between engineering theory and practice. Neutrium provides accessible, in-depth coverage of the design challenges faced by engineers and technical professionals in their daily work.
Neutrium currently consists of approximately 100 articles and had 400,000 unique visitors in 2019. If you are interested, here is a sample here of some of my favourite articles:

Having enjoyed modest success, we wrapped up in late 2009 to focus on our professional careers and growing families.
I look back on my time playing with Shot to Velvet fondly and still enjoy the music we created. It taught me how to manage creative endeavours, balance stakeholder requirements and perform under pressure.
